We are leaving the island!

Well, we have filled out the forms, and are now just waiting for confirmation. But we will be leaving the island and sampling mainland life in Sept for the World Con in Melbourne.

This is rather daunting. They will be more people there than there are on the whole island. But hopefully there will be some familiar faces. I am looking forward to doing some shopping as well as some socialising.

  1. Have fun!

[At the moment I'd last about a day at a Worldcon before collapsing for the rest of the week, so I won't be seeing you there! =8(]

  2. Hey did the book we sent arrive? :-( Sorry you won't be there, but we'll probably show up in South Australia one day. Hopefully meet you then.

  3. Yes, the book arrived a few days ago. It was indeed a wonderful surprise. Thankyou. I'm looking forward to diving into it when I get the time to do so. You didn't really need to have bothered, as your delight at getting to try new flavours was enough.*

Although you still haven't mentioned how the attempt at wattleseed icecream went... <grin> [Although personally I find I prefer wattleseed pavlova myself. I find it brings out more of the subtle notes of the wattleseed.]

Just thought I'd save you wondering if I would be there hunting you down. [Was my last Worldcon really over two decades ago? Time flies are worse than fruit flies!]

[* As the thank you note on the way back to you was going to say. For various reasons it's being sent Monday to ensure minimal damage to the card. And yes, you will discover the reason why I make this cryptic statement sometime next week. <bwah hah hah hah ha ha ha ha> (mine is indeed an evil laugh).]

  4. Monkey's need papers to travel to mainland Oz? Who knew?

  5. Of course they need passports to enter the mainland. Just look at the previous entry to see the purple-black gunk they would track all over our nice clean mainland if we didn't check their feet were clean first...

  7. :-) We are used everyone knowing our names and who we are, so that'll help. See you there.

  8. Feet clean? Yes! Feet bright white, I doubt it, but I do have a while to go on scrubbing and growing new skin.
