Well, all the kids - including my new daughter-in-law are back in South Africa. I miss them fiercely and of course have tons of work catch-up to do. And Flinders Island social life /other business continues relentlessly. Barbs is going on a chain-saw operator's course tomorrow. I am chasing deadlines. We are going along to some wallaby shooting tonight with the local professional. I don't have time, but the opportunity to learn is just too good to pass on.
It is traditional for the parents to collapse after the wedding. Just for a bit, but yes, rest and relaxation is called for while you internalize the changes to the family. :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I must admit to battling a bit. Happy with the additions to the family, but the tyranny of distance is hard. But they must do what is best for their future.
ReplyDeleteDistance is a very hard thing on a family. I ache for mine sometimes. Ian goes back on Thursday after a nice 3 month visit. The homesickness will be strong, I fear. But we all do what we must, and you and Barbs gave yours a good start. They will be fine. You'll miss them, they'll miss you, but the good times will be all the sweeter. :)
