21 and barely ever been kissed before (ha ha)
Well with Time-travel between countries it was James - my little 6'1" boy's 21st brithday bash last night/this morning. He's probably grateful that his dad wasn't around to show cute pictures of him dressed only in mud at age 18 months. Or blonde with long curly hair at pre-school.
Well. I miss my boy anyway. He'll lecture his old man, as usual, about all sorts of things from how I dive to how I eat... but I guess there is some justice there. I look forward to giving his children noisy musical instruments one day.
So here's to you my son.
May you build a ladder to the stars,
and climb on every rung.

Skip rungs. Far more fun to use every second one.
ReplyDelete(That is how I go up stairs at least....)
One of the benefits of today's mobile phones are their camera feature. Thus we have been able to catch a great deal of Trip's more embarrassing moments. Such as the time he wore a set of underpants as head gear. I use it for my facebook icon.
ReplyDeleteI have _years_ of embarrassing photos to threaten him with!
Savour the moment well. The next thing you know he will be 27. Or at least that's the way it seems with mine.
ReplyDeleteThink of it this way, with a mum and dad like you and B, he has a great foundation for that ladder :)

ReplyDeleteUtterly and completely true. From experience. Well, some of it. :)
Lecture you - maybe.
ReplyDeleteCherish you both - always.
Congrats all around ... sorry you aren't together, but quite sure you'll make up for it soon!!
ReplyDeleteMartin - there is something to be said for cautiously climbing on every rung - especially as i climbed the ladder you and Paddy and James built at Finnegan's wake. Let's just say it was a good thing I had strong hands :-)
ReplyDeleteQuilly, I recommend copying them and storing at several different locations. James thought he had them all ;-)
ReplyDeleteCheryl I just look forward to the possibility ofthem in the same country as us again.
ReplyDeleteMartin, you know there is always a bed and dinner for you if you ever get this far. :-)
ReplyDeleteTantalus - lecture me for sure :-). And I pay as much mind as he paid me (ie. some)
ReplyDeleteMelissa, one's children scatter. But the love they give you gathers.
ReplyDeleteMy favouritest _little_ brother, I'm just waiting for him to over take me in age like he did height. I blame experienced parenting. He was born the barest fraction of my age, now he is at 0.925098 and counting. He has done well, and you have done well. And I doubt either of you could slow this self-perpetuating system, or would want to.
