  2. The hat suits you, Dave.

BTW, I notice O'Mike suggested you write a colony planet book drawing on your self-sufficiency trials and tribulations on Flinders. This is just to let you know I'd buy it in a minute, if you did.

  4. You're both looking good; I hope everyone had a happy day.
Did people like the chocolate dip?
The chef's hat gives a nice visual balance to the beard, but functionally it's a bit of a discontinuity: a chef who uses a hat like that to keep his hair out of the food, and then sports a big and unrestrained beard.
On the other hand, putting a hat on your beard would look really silly, besides obstructing your view; while this way it's a nicely balanced image.

    1. Well in a way the hair off your head falls out a lot, and the beard not so much, so it does help :-) but it was for the amusement of the crowd really. Those that did it, loved it. Many people were not brave enough :-)

  5. Why would anyone not dare to eat chocolate? Unless they're on a diet...
We had a chocolate dip with bits of fruit on sticks for dessert last december at our yearly office party, and it was very very nice - almost everybody came back for seconds (except the dieters, of course).
